I can't believe how the years have flown by. Apparently kids...especially when they are your own really DO grow up fast! Charley turned 7 yesterday! Here's a little bit about her:
Favorite thing to do: making crafty things and art
Favorite food: Javier's Baby Burritos
Best friend: Cousin Kate
Favorite colors: neon yellow and pink
Favorite animal: pug puppies
Favorite book: The Foot Book by Dr.Seuss
Favorite game: Pretty Pretty Princess
Charley is one cuddly little friend and she is extremely flatulent (and shameless which makes it all the funnier!) ; which can make cuddling with her quite hazardous. We adore her little face and how when she smiles her whole face turns into one big smile...it's her face that should be on the "Have a nice day" stickers. We had a ton of fun taking her to Javier's for dinner and coming back home for cake and ice cream later. Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Vivi, Cousins Bungi and Jessie and Kate were there to make it special. Oh and also Maddie invited a couple of her cute little friends. Fun fun fun!!!
I love that when Sweets and I went to Mexico all Charley wanted us to bring back for her was a "Mexico dress"! When she walked in all the servers almost died of her cuteness..."Awwww..."
Of course there were pre-appetizer gumballs!
Oh the silliness!
Also some important phone calls were made.
More silliness....
Mi madre, Grandma Vicencio. She is so cute!
Some smooching while we waited for our food to come
A very cheesy baby burrito.
Some very full patrons. "Oh! I think I ate too much!"
Pretty cousins, Jessie and Kristine (AKA: Bungi). My sister-in-law, Shannon, pointed out a cool thing....Bungi's head floating there above Charley! What the!? Oh I forgot to tell you that I invited a headless ghost for cake and ice cream!
What's in the bowl, you ask? We will call this Cake #1. My lovely sister Vivi offered her kindness and cake baking services (Thank you sista for all of your efforts!). She thought I had no eggs. What kind of mother would I be if I didn't buy eggs to bake a birthday cake for my daughter!? She substituted mayo for eggs and then this happened. It WAS extremely moist however! Then Vivi, Nik and I proceeded to eat the delicious "crumb cake" (as she called it) by the spoonfuls. I don't regret that accident at all.
How very sad that we have to call this Cake #2!!! Charley requested a chocolate cake with lemon frosting of all things! This one DID have eggs and just look at it! Ohhhhh the tragedy of it all!! As soon as poor Vivi started frosting the second layer it split in half and didn't stop there. She was in tears when her daughter Bungi showed up (in the meantime the rest of us were at Javier's enjoying a lovely dinner!). They jumped in the car and sped over to the nearest Albertson's for a new cake...thus the next cake:
Cake #3!!! The funny thing about all of this is that Charley still had her little heart set on her chocolate cake with lemon frosting, so after blowing out the candles on cake #3 she asked to blow out the candles on cake #2!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET GIRL! WE LOVE YOU SO VERY!!!

what fun that you are catching up on all of your blogging for me to enjoy! :) charlie is so cute and i still remember coming to see her in the hospital and just feeling such a strong strong feeling of love and that she was a really special little spirit that had just entered our lives.
that picture of bungi was creepy because until i blew it up, it looks like her head is just floating around charlie with no body.
OH the cake! lol
I bet they all 3 tasted good!:-)
And yes, the Bungi picture is quite funny! I remember the day I found out you had little Char. It was Brooklyn, 2002. I had grabbed my mail, as we were heading out the door to an teaching appointment. The little quaint street Glenwood Rd was lined with big old trees. They gave us great shade in the hot summer! As I was walking down this road I opened my letter from you and there I met little "Charlotte Ann" for the first time! She was Darling!!! Her little pink sundress so sweet:-) What a lovely DAY!!!
It just makes me happy that you think that I could look anything like that darling little girl! I am SOOO in love with little Charlie!! Please tell her, aunty loves her more than anything!!! Happy Birthday little angel!!
I still think she and my Nick should you know get together in about 20 years. They would be so cute together and their kids...our grandkids would be the most beautiful children on earth!
oh my gosh she is so dang cute-i remember when she was just a little tiny baby.
Holy cow! Look at all your posts. Where have I been? The tat t-shirt, the many faces of Gordi, the trip to the zoo and Charly's birthday!! Wow - I remember when she was born. What darling little girl and she does look adorable in that dress from Mexico!
